Shirdi is a small village in Kopargam taluk in Ahmadnagar District of the Maharashtra State. Shirdi was only a tiny hamlet of 80 thatched houses with mud walls when Sai Baba arrived in 1858. A man of principle, Sai Baba, as he was lovingly called by his Hindu and Muslim followers, devoted his entire life in teaching the common path of Hinduism and Islam. He always believed and professed ‘Sabka malik ek’ (meaning one God governs all). He spent the last years of his life in Shirdi until he attained the ‘mahasamadhi’ (left his physical body) on 15 October 1918. Even years after his death, devotees throng this religious place round the year to pay their tributes.
Shani Shinganapur is situated in Nevasa taluka in Ahmednagar district and well-known for its popular temple of Shani, the Hindu god associated with the planet (graha) Saturn. Shingnapur is 35 km from Ahmednagar city. Shingnapur is also famous for the fact that no house in the village has doors, only door frames. Despite this, officially no theft was reported in the village although there were reports of theft in 2010 and 2011.
